Welcome to Zeke's Service Dog Fundraiser, where every contribution makes a difference in providing Zeke with a service dog companion.

About Our Cause
Zeke's Story
Zeke has been accepted for service dog training with Sits 'n Wiggles Service Dog Training 'n Behavior Consulting. Valarie, of Sits 'n Wiggles is currently looking to find a good potential service dog match for Zeke, probably an older dog (closer to 1 year) due to Zeke's limitations in caring for a puppy. The criteria they're working with are no reactivity, no fear/anxiety issues, and no resource guarding, plus an evaluation for suitability as a potential service dog. Once Zeke gets a dog that matches these criteria, they have the option to do a combination of day training (4 days per week) and less-intensive training (1 day per week with Zeke training the rest of the week) with Sits 'n Wiggles, depending on how challenging a part of the dog's training they are in and Zeke's finances, until such a time as the dog is fully-mature and fully-trained as a service dog. The total cost of this training will be between $17,815 and $40,130 total over about 2 years, payable in installments at the beginning of each month's training. For more information on this training, visit https://www.sitsnwigglescle.com/.
Zeke has other chronic health conditions, mental health issues, and mobility challenges, including drop foot, scoliosis, a pelvic deformity, gastroparesis, cyclic vomiting syndrome, migraines, ADHD, depression, anxiety, and more.
Zeke still has a good quality of life, though, participating in a local concert band and wheelchair dance, making arts and crafts, and enjoying time with their cat. Zeke loves animals and people, and they look forward to the ways the dog will be able to help in their daily life.
Zeke's dog will be trained in medical response for their POTS and orthostatic intolerance, to help Zeke recover faster from syncope and pre-syncope. The dog might also be able to alert to these episodes before they happen. The dog will also be trained in grounding and leading and navigation for Zeke's autism and DID/PTSD, which will allow them to access their immediate neighborhood more safely and independently, and he will be trained in light mobility tasks, as Zeke is in a wheelchair.

Our Initiatives
Current Focus Areas
Donations from our Amazon Wish List and donations directly to our dog trainer in our name are very helpful right now, as these do not impact our benefits. However, if you want to donate directly to us for vet costs, adoption/breeder fee costs, dog supply costs, travel to get the dog, etc., our STABLE account impacts our benefits the least and is the best place to donate. We're also still accepting shoe drive donations through the second or third week of June at The School of Dancing Wheels (3030 Euclid Ave, Cleveland- Suite 100) from 10am-3pm Mon-Sat.
Shoe Drive
From January 20-around June 16th, we are collecting new and gently-used shoes in partnership with Shoes with Heart, a Funds2Orgs brand. The purpose of the shoe drive is three-fold: to keep shoes out of landfills; to secure shoes for Funds2Orgs' micro-enterprise partners in developing nations; and to raise money for Zeke's service dog, as Funds2Orgs will pay Zeke per pound of shoes collected. Shoes can be dropped off at The School of Dancing Wheels (3030 Euclid Ave, Cleveland- Suite 100) from 10am-3pm Mon-Sat. We need around 75-100 more pairs of shoes to have the freight fee waived for Funds2Orgs picking up the shoes and therefore see the money from our shoe drive. We're so grateful for the 300+ pairs of shoes we've collected so far and know we can make this final push!
Volunteer with Us
To volunteer to help with tasks such as distributing flyers, picking up donations, setting up for events, helping run events, and more, email zekes.service.dog.fundrasier@gmail.com.
Current volunteer opportunities involve helping Zeke set up a tent and table and manage being a vendor at Treemont Farmer's Market on July 15th, 22nd, and 29th in the afternoon and evening. Zeke needs a ride or at least someone to bring the table, booth, items, etc to and from their apartment. Zeke also needs a ride (with a folding wheelchair OR power chair) to a music festival benefitting them in August in the afternoon until 10pm one Saturday and someone to stay with them to help push the chair and help them regulate (autism-wise) in an overwhelming environment. Zeke will accept help from people they don't know but will only accept rides from people they know or who are vouched for by people they know. We also need help bagging up donated shoes, transporting donated shoes to the home of the person storing them, and loading them into the truck on pick-up day.

***PRESS RELEASE for Shoe Drive*** January 20- March 20, 2025 Zeke's Service Dog Fundraiser Launches Shoe Drive Fundraiser to Raise Money for a Service Dog (Cleveland, OH. 2025) – Zeke's Service Dog Fundraiser (https://zekesservicedogfun.wixsite.com/zekesfundraiser) is conducting a shoe drive fundraiser on January 20-March 20 to raise funds for Zeke's service dog. Zeke's Service Dog Fundraiser will earn funds based on the total weight of the pairs of gently worn, used and new shoes collected, as Funds2Orgs will issue a check for the collected shoes. Those dollars will benefit Zeke, an autistic, multiply disabled community member, getting a service dog . Anyone can help by donating gently worn, used and new shoes. Drop off new or gently used shoes in the donation bins located at: Case Western Reserve University's Disability Student Resources 402 Sears Building Cleveland, Ohio 44106 The School of Dancing Wheels 3030 Euclid Ave, Suite 100 Cleveland, OH 44115 Hours: Mon-Sat 10am-3pm The LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland 6705 Detroit Ave, Cleveland, OH 44102 Email zekes. service.dog.fundraiser@gmail.com for more location. All donated shoes will then be redistributed throughout the Funds2Orgs network of micro-enterprise (small business) partners. Funds2Orgs works with micro-entrepreneurs in helping them create, maintain and grow small businesses in developing countries where economic opportunity and jobs are limited. Proceeds from the sales of the shoes collected in shoe drive fundraisers are used to feed, clothe and house their families. One budding entrepreneur in Haiti even earned enough to send to her son to law school. "We are excited about our shoe drive," typed Zeke. "We know that most people have extra shoes in their closets they would like to donate to us. By doing so, we raise money for my service dog, and we have the chance to help families in developing nations who need economic opportunities. It's a winwin for everyone.” By donating gently worn, used and new shoes to Zeke's Service Dog Fundraiser's shoe drive, the shoes will be given a second chance and make a difference in people’s lives around the world. Zeke has been accepted to receive a puppy through Mission Ready Retrievers that will be trained through Sits 'n Wiggles Service Dog Training 'n Behavior Consulting in Cleveland. Their dog will be trained in medical alert and response for POTS and orthostatic intolerance, grounding for autism and PTSD, and mobility tasks, as Zeke is in a wheelchair. Zeke is collecting shoes and fundraising for costs associated with the training of their service dog.
